Tyler Rasmussen is a seasoned attorney with expertise in bankruptcy, landlord/tenant, foreclosure, Social Security, and criminal defense. His background has been instrumental in his success in the legal profession.
Tyler was raised in Wales, Wisconsin, and attended the Kettle Moraine School District. He then went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison before pursuing a Juris Doctorate at Marquette University Law School. Tyler also earned a certificate in Sports Law during his time at Marquette.
Tyler was drawn to the legal field because of his love for problem-solving. He enjoys taking a set of facts and weaving them into a coherent argument that answers a question or provides a clear picture. This passion for puzzle-solving has translated into his approach to bankruptcy cases.
Tyler's first job after law school was in the back office of a property management company where he assisted with landlord/tenant queries and contacted tenants for unpaid rent. This experience served as an excellent foundation for his legal career, and every step since then has been an improvement. Tyler's longest tenured role was helping people apply for Social Security Disability and navigate the appeals process, which he found to be incredibly rewarding.
Tyler's approach to bankruptcy is informed by the exceptional experiences of his colleagues. They begin by examining who is owed what and then assist clients in making the math work. It is a fulfilling process when clients realize that they can rid themselves of overwhelming debt without forfeiting everything they've worked for.
Tyler's goal is to ensure that clients understand their options. As an attorney, he feels compelled to ensure that his clients are aware of all the avenues available to them and to explain them in a way that is easily understood, without feeling embarrassed or patronized. Tyler acknowledges that in some cases, his client's best choice may be not to hire him, but if he can show them that he has their best interests in mind, they will trust him in the future.
One of the essential skills that Tyler believes all successful attorneys possess is an excellent memory. It is beneficial to remember the law and its subtleties. Still, it is also helpful to recall details about clients. Knowledge of the law is useless if it cannot be applied to meet the client's needs.
Outside of work, Tyler and his wife are avid concert-goers with diverse musical tastes. They have two boys who are getting into sports and school activities, and they are the focal point of their lives. The family enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, and being outdoors in general, but they also enjoy relaxing in front of the TV to binge-watch Survivor or the latest Marvel movie. In the community, Tyler and his wife are actively involved in their church and volunteer for their children's school and sports programs.
Tyler is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association and is licensed to practice in the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. As a skilled and experienced attorney, Tyler is committed to helping his clients resolve their legal issues in the most practical way possible and in the shortest amount of time.
